Paddle kayaks/canoes to Sugarloaf island in Greers Ferry Lake & hike to the top of the peak. Bring sack lunch. Bring kayak or canoe. We paddle one mile across a sheltered channel, the wide trail to the top is steep, 0.8 mile & 447’ elevation (11% grade). If you want to tarry longer on the island, there is a 1-mile loop trail circling the base of the mountain. Note there are two Sugarloaf Mountains … Do not drive to the Sugarloaf behind ASU campus. Our Sugarloaf is the island near the south shore, Higden, AR. We last made this trip in September 2023. You can peruse “Sugar Loaf Mountain Nature Trail” on AllTrails.com.
