WAMN* Stream Team hits Frog Bayou

Published on 9/9/2019

The WAMN Stream Team
Sunday, September 8, was a warm day, which made it a perfect time to journey to the river.  Frog Bayou at Rudy is a favorite hang-out and cooling-off spot for locals and we joined a small crowd there.  However, they came to cool off.  We came to work.

The group split down the middle, with half swishing the long-handled nets for 'water bugs' and the other have analyzing the chemistry of the river water.  An excellent variety of marine invertebrates were found, indicating that the water quality was high.  This contrasts with the low number of invertebrate species found three months ago, but that was probably a side effect of the flooding just beforehand.  Chemical analyses were also positive.
