Counting critters, calculating chemistry

"Master Naturalist stream team volunteers are never over their heads in area creeks, but do get their waders wet at least once a month in one or two of the 10 streams they monitor in partnership with Arkansas Game & Fish Commission (AGFC).

"'NCAMN's stream teams have been the best in the state in terms of information and data provided,' said AGFC's Sean Sanders. 'In fact, I've learned more about stream quality testing from NCAMN than I've taught other volunteers.'"

NCAMN's Stream Team moves out one Tuesday a month to test one or two streams.  One group in the team tests chemistry, the other macroinvertebreates.  These streams have been monitored for as much as 10 years.
